Lighting technology continues to advance, creating a pathway that allows today’s lighting products to provide much more to the building occupants beyond illumination.

With LED technology, chip developers can harness specific wavelengths that promote health and wellbeing to the people who live, work, and play in these built environments.

Through luminaire design and proper application, it is possible to utilize a bacteria-killing lighting technology that not only provides comfortable illumination, but also combats common pervasive bacteria without harming humans.

As Healthcare Market Development Manager for Visa Lighting, Laurie assists specifiers in finding lighting solutions that enhance healthcare environments and support patient wellbeing. Having more than 25 years of experience as a lighting designer, Laurie has worked alongside architects, engineers and interior designers on numerous interior and exterior lighting projects for commercial, educational, retail, hospitality, senior living, and healthcare spaces. Laurie’s passion for lighting design began while pursuing a career in architecture and electrical design and is also Lighting Certified through the NCQLP. She serves in leadership roles at the Section level of the IES and has held leadership positions in Toledo, Cincinnati and Greensboro, NC. That passion has also led her to volunteer in other organizations. She continues to engage her professional lighting design background at Visa Lighting through constant research of current lighting technology and design trends. This expertise allows her to train design professionals for applications that encourage healing in healthcare environments.
