Tour The Haven on Lincoln, a thoughtfully redesigned former motel serving as a safe and supportive community for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The 37-room non-congregate homeless shelter, first of its kind in Chicago, Gensler relied on trauma-informed design for the renovation of the Diplomat into the Haven. Each space is designed intentionally for healing and providing dignity.
From Block Club Chicago, “Trauma-informed Design reduces uncertainty and supports control, choice and safety. And it’s really about treating residents here with the full dignity and agency they deserve,” Gensler Architect Sean McGuire said. “A big component about trauma-informed design is making sure that the finishes, the overall experience of the space, is not institutional.”
Join Gensler and Thomas Interiors on this exclusive project tour, concluding with a short design and procurement process presentation by Hao Phung, Interior Designer and Chrysa Marti.
