Join us on May 18th, 2023 from 12:00 - 1:00pm
for a Lunch & Learn / virtual CEU on "7 Deadly Sins of Lighting Layout"
Course Overview:
Tidy grids of recessed downlights are the easy way to light a floor, but is there a better way to illuminate spaces for better occupant comfort and wellbeing? Lighting Layout – the practice of plopping circles on a plan wherever centerlines intersect- is best in 2D plans. But Lighting Design – the practice of putting the right light in the right place at the right time – requires a three[1]dimensional approach to lighting informed by psychology, physiology, geometry, and technology. Light can help your clients and end users live happier and healthier lives, but not if the best light is wasted on the floor. Author, speaker, and designer David Warfel will reveal why typical lighting plans fall short- and provide clear guidance on how to do better.

2. Participants will identify a dozen different common lighting layout problems that look correct in plan view but lower the comfort, function, beauty, and enjoyment of the space.
3. Participants will learn a dozen lighting solutions that can deliver aesthetic improvements and, perhaps more importantly, help occupants wake gently, work energetically, relax easily, and rest deeply.
4. Participants will examine lighting fundamentals including color temperature and angle against emerging circadian scientific discovery to develop clear strategies for implementation in residential and
